The course entails a range of assignments to build academic writing skills. The student will learn fundamental concepts of academic writing that scholars use and will become familiar with the different standards of writing.

The course advances the student’s writing skills to analyze texts, question sources; reason with evidence; organize persuasive, well-structured arguments and communicate ideas in clear and effective prose. Prerequisite: ENG 120

Arithmetic, algebraic expressions and equations are studied; their manipulation and use in problem solving; word problems; and an introduction to inequalities, absolute values, and graphing.
